The Ukrainian World Congress[1] was organized in 1967 and was initially known as the World Congress of Free Ukrainians. It is an umbrella organization that coordinates and represents all Ukrainian organizations in the diaspora. The ethnic Ukrainian population in the diaspora is estimated at around 20 million people, many of whom were born outside Ukraine.It is based in Toronto, Canada.
The Congress has a number Commissions dealing with Social Services, Education, Scholarship, Youth Organizations, Sports, Cultural Affairs. It also has a Committee which interacts with the United Nations and a Media Council.
Recently a task force dealing with human trafficking was established.
